EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PRESCHOOL

The R. G. Drage Career Technical Center Preschool provides the needed training for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Program.  The two major purposes of the preschool are:

  1. To train young adults in all aspects of the care and guidance of young children and the fundamentals of management and maintenance of a preschool
  2. To promote the development of young children in an environment rich in resources to stimulate their individual creativity, interests, and abilities.

Children enrolled in the preschool will be provided with:

  • Opportunities for being with other children in a setting conducive to the development of wholesome social relationships.
  • Appropriate play experiences, including quiet and active play that contribute to the developmental needs of the child.
  • Opportunities for meaningful play based on the child's individual needs, interests, abilities, and experiences to enhance skills for kindergarten readiness.
  • An atmosphere that is appropriate for the preschool child.
  • Learning experience in all the Early Learning Content standards:  English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Science.
MOMMY & ME TODDLER PROGRAM

The two major purposes of the Mommy & Me Toddler Program are:

  1. To train young adults in all aspects of the care and guidance of young children and the fundamentals of management and maintenance of a program such as Mommy & Me.
  2. To promote the development of toddlers in an environment rich in resources to stimulate their individual creativity, interests, and abilities.

Children participating in the Mommy & Me program will be provided with:

  • Opportunities for being with other children in a setting conducive to the development of wholesome social relationships
  • Age appropriate experiences, including quiet and active activities that contribute to the developmental needs of the child.
  • Opportunities for meaningful play--based on the child's individual needs, interests, handicaps, abilities and experiences--to build important foundations for Preschool readiness.
  • An atmosphere that is appropriate for the toddler-aged child.
Preschool Information

Three-year-old children attend two days per week:

October - May
Tuesdays & Thursdays
9:10 - 11:10 a.m.

Four- and five-year-old children attend three days per week:

October - May
Mondays & Wednesdays
9:10 - 11:10 a.m.
Tuesdays
12:15 - 2:15 p.m.

Fees:

$50 per month
$30 registration fee ($20 of this fee will be applied to first month's tuition.)
Mommy & Me Information

The toddler schedule is designed to provide a variety of activities appropriate for children 18 months to 36 months of age.  

A child must be 18 months by January 1. 

Next session of Mommy & Me will begin in spring 2011.  Toddlers will attend two days per week from 12:15 - 1:30 p.m.   Exact days "to be announced."
