If you have a passion for helping others, consider a Health Technologies career! As a student in this program, you will gain a hands-on overview of the health care field which will give you the knowledge base necessary to be successful in a variety of health care settings and post-secondary institutions. With this cross-training of skills, you will have many opportunities available to you, including preparation for the State-Tested Nurse’s Aide Exam and the online Pharmacy Tech Exam.
Many career opportunities exist within the Health Services Career Field, including careers in: nursing, radiology, optometry, nutrition, physical therapy, occupational therapy, rehabilitation, and prevention and wellness.
Students in the Health Technologies program will receive classroom instruction in theory and laboratory practice, where they can practice and acquire patient care skills in real life situations. Technical skills and knowledge learned include: monitoring condition of patients, assisting with activities of daily living, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. In addition, the areas of phlebotomy and electrocardiogram are studied.
